What is Google Adsense?
What is Google Adsense?
Whenever you’re online and browsing through different websites, you inevitably come across the “Ads by Google” advertisements placed in certain locations on various web pages. They’re hard to miss when you’re surfing around or using Google’s search engine. So, if you’ve been online for awhile you have undoubtedly seen Google Ads, which have become a familiar sight to most of us while browsing the web these days.
Google, Inc. runs the Google Adsense program, which is an ad serving application where webmasters can join the program, which then allows them to put either text, image or video advertisements on their websites. These advertisements are then administered by Google and will generate revenue for the website owner on either a per-impression or per-click basis.
The advertisements you see on various websites is determined by Google’s internet search technology and is based on website content, geographical location of the user and several other factors. Adsense has become a very popular way of placing advertising on a website, mainly because the ads aren’t as intrusive as banner ads, and the content of the advertisements is usually relevant to the website.
There are millions of web surfers who click on advertisements all the time. In fact, millions of people shop online. Maybe you’re one of them. And that’s exactly what the advertisers are hoping for, that their ads will grab your attention over all the rest and you click on them to see what they have to offer.
So, just exactly what is the Adsense program and how does it work? Basically, Adsense is just one part of Google’s advertising network, and Google will pay you money for sending visitors to ads generated by another Google advertising program called Adwords. Both Adsense and Adwords work together. That’s the simple explanation.
Essentially, there are two parts to Google’s advertising services. Those who desire to advertise their products and/or services online would use the Google Adwords service, and those who wish to display these ads on their own websites would use Google’s AdSense program. The best part is that no experience is necessary for either, which means that all webmasters have an opportunity to earn money from his or her website. However, I always recommend that you do your homework first, and study the tutorials on how to get started with each program.
Having a website is the first criteria that needs to be met. Participants don’t need to know anything about advertising, but your website must meet Google’s policy guidelines and terms of service before you will be accepted into either program. This is probably the most important point that most website owners fail to understand and most often fail to comply with, where you can and will be turned down because of this oversight of not playing by Google’s rules. Knowing and following these policy guidelines will insure much greater success using the Adwords and Adsense programs.
Once a webmasters’ website meets Google’s standards and you’ve been accepted into the Adsense program, you will then be able to earn revenue from the first day you join and get your account and ads set up. Then, as your website traffic increases over time, so will your revenue. The more traffic, the more money you make. Remember, it’s a numbers game. The more targeted visitors your site attracts, the better chance of them clicking on your Adsense ads and earning you money.
Your website Adsense ads performance is also tracked by an assortment of customizable reports which provides you with some very useful statistical information, which means that Google tracks all the revenue you’re earning through the ads your visitors click on your website. Your total earnings will also be displayed within your AdSense account.
As the website owner you have control over how the ads are displayed on your website using the AdSense system editing tools. You also have the ability to block and filter certain types of advertisements. Depending on your websites subject matter, visitors should see relevant advertising that coincides with your sites content, which they should find useful based on their apparent interest in the subject of your website. This not only provides a much more valuable and user-friendly experience for your visitors, but also greatly increases the chance of you earning more Adsense revenue as well.
Website owners can earn a nice extra income from home using the Google AdSense program, so, it is highly recommended that you look into Google Adsense as a way to earn some extra online income. You’ll be glad you did.
